Details of Position
JCS is a community-based, private, bilingual school located up in the mountains in a beautiful, slow-paced town called Jarabacoa. Jarabacoa is an hour’s drive from the nearest airport, Aeropuerto Internacional del Cibao (STI) in Santiago and a two-hour drive from Santo Domingo (the capital city).
The school accepts students beginning in preschool from 2 years of age up to 18 in high school. With approximately 250 students in total, the maximum class size is 26 students, although most are significantly smaller. JCS is a non-profit organization founded by Christians, although positions are open to anyone and individual beliefs are respected. Overall, we have around 80 members of staff including members from the Dominican Republic, US, UK, Venezuela, and Haiti.
Qualifications
Any TEFL/TESOL certificate is accepted.
Salary and Benefits
RD$26,000 pesos (approx US$470) per month rising to 28,000 in the second year
US$100 country exit fee coverage (upon completion of contract)
US$200 flight reimbursement (upon completion of contract June 30th)
Christmas Bonus
Option to tutor after school for RD$300 pesos per hour
Please note that the average salary in the Dominican Republic is RD$15,000 so our compensation package makes for comfortable living.
Medical Insurance paid by JCS. Plan coverage is available upon request.
Free shared accommodation provided with bills included. Alternative accommodation can be discussed at interview.
