More than 600 individuals have volunteered as English teachers in public primary and secondary schools across the country. You too can make a global difference and help improve English learning to Ecuadorian children and adolescents whilst taking the opportunity to explore a country with one of the greatest biodiversity in the world and a great cultural heritage.

    Next Highlands & Amazon Region Program Dates:

    • September 2017 – February 2018 (5 months)

    • September 2017 – July 2018 (10 months)

    • February 2018 – July 2018 (5 months)

    • Native English speakers.

    • Non-native English speakers with a C1 English level or equivalent.

    • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree, or university students attending the last year/s of their education, or holder of an internationally recognized teaching certificate (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA)

    • Applicants must have a clean background check.

    • Applicants must not have prohibited/restricted entry into Ecuador.

    • Must hold a passport with at least 1 year of validity.

    • Applicants must be able to make a USD 500 refundable deposit if selected.

    • Monthly volunteer living allowance for the teacher’s personal expenses. A total of $355 per month.

    • Airline tickets: Round trip for long term volunteers (8-10 months) – One-way airline tickets for the return flight for short term volunteers (5-6 months)

    • All Visa costs and procedures are covered by the program.

    • Private, national, pre-paid medical insurance for volunteer teachers during their stay in the program.

    • Placement at any of the public schools in the highlands or coastal region of Ecuador participating in the program.

    • Accommodation and 2 meals per day provided by a host family.

    • Induction and training regarding the Ecuadorian public education system and the English teaching plan developed by the Ministry of Education.

    • 40 hours per week work schedule (Monday to Friday): 30 academic hours, plus 10 hours of lesson planning and additional activities at the school.

    • The Volunteer Teacher mush comply with the schedule assigned to them by the school (Volunteers can have the morning shift or the afternoon shift).

    • The volunteer teacher must prepare the corresponding activities for all the students, as many as 40 students per class (5 – 18 years old).

    • Attend events and trainings related to the program.
