THE MIDDLE EAST
Characterised by dune-filled landscapes, shimmering desert heat, luxury lifestyles and some of the most technologically advanced and breath-taking architecture in the world, the Middle East is a melting pot of ancient culture, Islamic tradition and near space-age development.
The region also offers some of the most competitive and lucrative TEFL opportunities in the world, particularly in the wealthy urban centres of UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. However, it’s not easy to get a TEFL position in these countries without having already gained at least 2 years classroom/practical teaching experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Education in addition to your TEFL certification. Candidates also need to be native English speakers.
In other less developed areas in the Middle East such as Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Yemen, recruiters will look for TEFL certification along with a Bachelor’s Degree.
